Monday's Exploring Light through Shadows Week 1

“Light makes photography. Embrace light. Admire it. Love it. But above all, know light. Know it for all you are worth, and you will know the key to photography.” - George Eastman

Welcome to the first week of a long-term collaborative photo project I am excited to be kicking off today. A photographer must see the light, understand it, and decide how to capture it. I am embarking on this 52-week project with a group of talented and diverse photographers from across the country and abroad. We have very different lives and distinct styles, but a common love for photography. As a means of furthering our growth and education, we have decided to tackle light head-on. Each month, one of us will pick a light-related topic and we will all post a weekly image based upon our interpretations of that theme. The first month of Project Light is: Playing with Shadows.

My interpretation for this week is below. I captured the reflection or shadow from the dock at sunset, along with the starbursts in the water at Sturges Park. I find myself very drawn to photographing sunsets-nature’s gift to us all. I live in Minnesota, land of 10,000 lakes, so there is no shortage of lakeside sunsets.
